Temperature & tint color shift Topaz Photo AI 3.0,4 - to LrC Import

This is new since one of the Photo AI 3.x updates. (can’t remember which one but it was prior to .4. I was hoping .4 would fix it). I hope this issue can be escalated. I see it has been brought up in the past.

Lightroom Classic 13.3.1 / Topaz Photo AI 3.0.4 / MacBook Pro Apple M1 2021 / Sonoma 14.4.1

Steps to reproduce issue:

  1. From imported but unedited selected image in LrC
Click: File > Plug-in Extras > Process with Topaz Photo AI
  2. Opened image in Topaz - no dramatic color changes
  3. Export to Adobe LrC - Opens in LrC with greenish hue
  4. Post Process Fix: Double Click to reset Temp & Tint sort of corrects it.

WORKAROUND … Bypass LrC

  1. drop the raw file directly into Topaz Photo AI.
  2. Process & save it
  3. Import the dng into Lrc no color shift

Notes:
Viewing the Topaz created .dng file in another photo program the color is fine.

Hi John, Thank you for the quick reply.

I uploaded the following files you requested also included the .xmp file that Topaz created.

Let me know if you need me to do anything else.

Thanks

Thanks for sending in those files. I have added this information to a task that our developers are currently investigating. I will be sure to reach out to you on this thread once I have more information regarding this problem.

I am definitely experience something similar.

When I process a RAW file (.CR3) in Photo AI (latest version 3.1.0), both the White Balance Temperature AND the Tint are being impacted.

This happens both when using the Lightroom plugin AND when loading the RAW file directly into the Topaz app. So, the workaround suggested by the original poster does NOT work for me.

Once the new DNG file is imported into Lightroom, it has a different WB Temp and a different Tint than the original RAW.

I use Olympus Raw files (.orf) and import them into Lightroom Classic. Then if I want to use Topaz photo AI as a LR plug-in I create a .dng and import it back into LR for further processing. However the .dng file usually (but not always) comes back with a strong green tint, and I have to press the auto-white balance in LR to restore it to what the .orf shows (which is what I want). It’s not a huge deal, but it’s an extra step in the process, and I’m curious as to why it happens, and if (and how) I can stop it happening. I’m using AI 3.2, LrC 13.5 and a n M1 MacBook Pro with Sonoma 14.6.1. Thanks for any insights and fixes.

Hi,

I have uploaded the .dng and .orf files, un-processed apart from the noise removal and sharpening in the dng. Also the preferences from Lightroom and TAI. I noticed that the LR preference says Pro Photo RGB for the color space, but when I changed that to sRGB tt didn’t fix the issue. Thanks for any help. R.

Would you mind sending the original file to my Dropbox using the link above? Also could you confirm with me what type of Olympus camera model you are using?

Hi. The original file is the .Orf file I already sent, and the camera is an OM systems OM-1 mk. 1. It does seem odd that the problem is intermittent. What it seems to do is to change the white balance, as I can correct it by clicking on the"as shot" option under the wb option in LR.

It appears that I only received the jpeg files in my Dropbox. We would like the original ORF file to help troubleshoot and share with the development team in order to get a better understanding as to what the problem might be while using these types of files.

Hi, Sorry - I had uploaded screen shots before. Now I have (hopefully) uploaded the original .orf from the OM-1 camera and the .dng file created by LrC → Files → Plugin extras → Topaz Photo AI.
