For Apple Silicon it’s in fact 8GB minimum.
And I’m quite sure it could be made to run on 4GB in they wanted to - maybe with reduced maximum output size or so.
Weird. I missed that.
I doubt 4 GB is enough for Topaz’s standards, since 8 GB applies only to ARM Macs and there’s no similar situation with Video AI.
I just found out about this app on the TWIT Podcast show MacBreak Weekly. I have a M2 iPad Pro with 1TB hard drive and 16GB RAM. I will think about buying this app as soon as it comes out on the m2 iPad Pro. I bet Affinity photos or other great apps on the iPad will eventually come out with there version of AI.
I agree and am in the same situation. The above arguments would be valid 3 years ago, but now lots of people are choosing to purchase the “high end” iPad pros (I have the same model / specs as John.gerard). They’re more bang for your buck compared to a MacBook. However, then there are limitations like the one we are experiencing here.
Point being, with the introduction of the iPad Pro, now the hardware has caught up and there is a bigger market than what is being considered. As the iPad Pro is more like a Microsoft Surface than a “big iPhone.”
Luminar has an iOS Version out shortly.
I guess others and hopefully also Topaz will follow.
The iPad Pro have an m2 chip I have a MacBook Air m1 128 go it works very well topaz, could you not do a software type photo ai for iPad Pro with m2 chip?
For me also it would be a great plus to have it on my iPad Pro too. The possibility to use the pencil in editing would be beautiful. The new announced pro should certainly be able to work with it
Just seconding the opinions here.
I use topaz labs products (Topaz labs photo AI) on my MacBook M1 Max and recently just purchased an iPad Pro M4.
I’d love to be able to also use this software in conjunction with Adobe products (Lightroom, Photoshop, etc) in an iPad only editing environment.
I user Topaz at my Mac Mini (Intel, not even M1) and it works (very slowly) i have a M1 Ipad Pro and am sure it would work better there and i will get an ipad Pro M4 that should have no problem at all with Tpoaz. My workflow is Ipad Pro based and it would be great if Topaz AI would support this. Not enough processing power is definitely not an argument.
just adding my vote here for an iPad version.
I’ve read the response from Topaz, but a web version doesn’t suit my needs. I’d prefer to have my M iPad do the work while I’m traveling. Like so many others here, I work on the move with Lightroom and Affinity Photo, and would love to have TPAI with me as well to complete the workflow.
I strongly dislike web apps, because in travel you often have to work free of a steady internet connection.
I believe this topic needs new exploration. I am currently writing on my new iPad Pro with the M4 chip, which outperforms the M2 Pro in my MacBook Pro in both single-core and some multi-core tests. Being able to use my iPad in the remote locations where I work would significantly enhance my workflow.
Thanks for the amazing work and I hope this was helpful.
I’d love to keep this near the top because I’ve now experienced the sheer power of the M4 iPad. I picked one up and LR is blazing fast on this thing.
It has to have more power than an M1 Mac at this point in time. I ordered the 1tb model largely for the 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU, along with 16GB of RAM so I know it is capable.
Im considering getting the ipad pro m4. But its sad to see this thread with almost 2 years of age and no progress.
Any idea?
now the new iPad Pro is powerfull enough to run Topaz , will you make an app for iPadOS ?
How do you work that out based on CPU/RAM or GPU specs? Is their now a file system based on hardware other than memory, e.g. disks?
I am writing to advocate for Topaz to add support for the new iPad Pro models equipped with the M4 chip. The M4 chip offers superior performance, surpassing even the M2 Pro in both single-core and certain multi-core benchmarks. This enhanced capability makes the new iPad Pro an ideal tool for demanding tasks.
Adding support for the new iPad Pro would greatly benefit users like myself who frequently work in remote locations. The portability and power of the iPad Pro, combined with Topaz’s advanced features, would significantly enhance productivity and workflow efficiency.
Therefore, I urge Topaz to consider supporting the new iPad Pro models to leverage their full potential and meet the needs of professional users.
Please merge it here to gather more votes please.
I join the request, it would be great to use the topaz programs on ipad. They are the best for improving photos.
this would be a gamechanger on the ipad
The issue is that many of us are carrying high end tablets on travel and in the field. The new M4 processor is a game changer for mobile workflows and its weight make it greatly preferred when already carrying your gear. Right now I have to use it to simply transfer photos onto and external hard drive and wait for when I’m back at home to do edits. Given I spend 80 percent of the time travelling - this isn’t a good solution. I’d highly recommend an IOS version as way to reach a very large audience.
