I bought a Pentax K3 Monochrome B&W camera and Topaz Photo Ai seems to like to add color to it. A very slight pinkish to red cast even though it has no color pixels at all and should be void of any color.
Please post in the correct category. I would suspect that as the camera has been just released (April) it is not yet supported by LibRAW, the RAW extraction library used by Photo AI.
Do both the PEF and DNG raw have the same problem?
Thanks for reaching out. Please send the following information so I can try to reproduce this.
- The original image file.
- The processed image.

Dropbox File Request
Are you using Topaz Photo AI as a plugin to another application or in stand alone mode?
Lingyu,
I have sent the Pentax K3 Monochrome files in both the RAW formats it shoots: PEF and DNG. Should be in your Dropbox now.
The PEF opens in Photo AI as a red color and not B&W as that is what it only shoots as. Also, the area around the image seems to have more artifacts and a border that isn’t cropped properly to the image. The DNG seems to have a better border than the PEF file and opens in B&W as well.
I am using the Photo AI as a stand alone.
Sincerely,
Gaylord McCurdy
I made a task for the PEF files. I tested exporting the files and noticed that the output from the DNG and PEF files both had issues.
I would recommend converting your Raw monochrome files to TIFF or JPG before sending it to Topaz Photo AI for processing.
We will be working on fixes for these monochrome Raw files soon.
