Starlight Precise - Bugged times to complete

Starlight Precise works completely fine for me, but the time estimates to complete a job are way off to the actual time completed, and it has occurred in all jobs I’ve done. My last job for instance said 1m 52s to complete, it goes down to 1m 41s to complete, and then jumps back up to 1m 52s, continuing to see-saw between these values.

Job in the end took just over 30 minutes complete, so the status report is really missing something.

OS: W11 26H2, 9800X3D CPU, 64gb of RAM, and an RTX 4090 GFX card.

The team is aware of some issues with the display times when running the models, and are looking into this. The processing is still occurring as it should, the reporting for that status update is incorrect.

I updated to Topaz Video to 1.4.0 and have been noticing that even though the starlight models are supposed to be faster now, it is still very slow. Right now, I am running a video through Starlight Precise and it will show that it is going to take 3 hours at 15.2 fps to finish a video but even after 10 hours, its not even a quarter of the way done. It stays at 3hrs 18mins the whole time but randomly changes and shows 16days at 0.3fps for a second.

The current UI has a glitch that is not reporting the processing speeds or times correctly for the Starlight models. This is being investigated by the devs for a patch update in the near future.

The processing speeds are more realistic to 1 fps or slower than the 15 fps, just being honest.

Isn’t the neroserver suppose to help speed it up some?

This is part of a larger goal to help with the models as we continue to develop the app into the future.

The estimated time remaining that shows in the Export queue is severely underestimating the time to complete for Starlight Precise 2.5. For example, I am currently converting an approximately 6m video (original resolution is 640 x 480) up to 4x (2624 x 1920). The export job has been running for 7h46m and is approximately 80% complete, but it’s estimating 15m remaining to complete the job. It seems to me it’s going to take at least another 1h30m for it to complete. The time estimates also constantly fluctuate up and down (often times going down all the way to 0s remaining estimates).

Other than the time estimates being fairly useless and I wish the exports didn’t take as long, the quality of Starlight Precision 2.5 is unmatched. This is the most pleased I’ve been with Topaz Video since I’ve owned it.

This is a known issue that is being worked on and is not impacting the actual processing time, it is just the UI displaying incorrect information. Should have this patched in a future release.

It’s not a bug, it’s a feature. But seriously - Topaz should redesign the time calculation to the end so that there are no such fluctuations. Calculating the average over a longer period of time should provide a more reliable measurement.

This doesn’t just apply to the SLP model.
