Please help. I do not know what I am doing wrong, if anything.
I have (apparently) been able to ‘download’ Starlight mini and to test process a very small file (of one minute).
Now, whenever I try to process another file, whether the Microsoft firewall is on or off, Internet speed 75 Mbps:
I am ALWAYS told to run a system check. It always comes up as ‘passed’:
GPU Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU
GPU Memory 16 GB
OS Windows 11 (Windows 10.0.26100)
System Memory 64 GB
Disk Space 250+ GB
I am then told to ‘Download NaNTB’ (Whatever that is. I can find no information about it on the Topaz site). I click Download.
Now I see:
Downloading (e.g.) 0.10GB of NaNGB Whatever that is (NB: Before it was NaNTB, now it is NaNGB). Once again there is no information on the Topaz site. I don’t sit glued to the laptop screen but it seems to increase to about 4 GB.
Whilst it is downloading this ‘NaNGB’, in the top right-hand corner of the screen a blue bar appears with white lettering, reading “Downloading Starlight Mini 100.00%”
The downloading of the NaNGB now says
“Downloading NaNGB of NaNGB”
and in the top right-hand corner the message has changed to:
“Downloading Starlight Mini 0.00%”
I think that everything is OK, so I try to process a different small file (or even the same small file that I processed before). No success.
EXACTLY as I have detailed above happens again and again and…
I decided to see if I could resolve the matter by downloading all the models found in Model Manager under Frame Interpolation and Enhancement (all 575). No change.
It’s like Grounghog Day, but without any progress or deviation.
Can you please help? Thanks.
I had some simillar import issues, and also some reboots afters hours sometimes one day of rendering, something seems not stable here. Then I get back to the Beta 7.0.0.4.b which works for me. I have no desire to continue trying this live version again and wait for the next release.
Thanks for your input. I have seen no link to the version you mention. How can I download it?
Thanks
This sounds like a possible connection issue, based on the NaNGB description, in that the app is not fully connected to the server to download the Starlight Mini model file. Are you running any connection blockers on your system or a tight firewall setup?
If so, try turning those off and installing the app again and downloading the model.
If that does not work, please message the support team directly at help@topazlabs.com so we can collect some info to try and help troubleshoot the situation.
Kyle
Thanks for your reply.
No connection blockers that I know of.
As I said, I get exactly the same results with Microsoft Defender on or off.
What do NaNTB and NaNGB mean?
Thanks
I have a working Starlight mini, but as a test I have renamed model folder an made a try to download Starlight mini again, without success! Download hangs, and the there is no resume, when closing tvai and try again it starts at 0% again and model folder is really empty
it would also not be a bad idea to do an integrity check of the files, or at least simply check what files are missing. I think many of the reported errors of those who can’t get the Starlight mini to run are due to the model not being fully downloaded
I would think what that refers to is the amount of hard drive space and VRAM you have with your hardware but it should not be showing as NaN, it should be a value. Can you email me a screenshot of what you are seeing when getting that so I can share with the devs for review?
Kyle
Thanks for your responses. I am attaching a sequence of five photos to show what I have seen on multiple occasions. A computer integrity check checks out OK. I don’t think I am doing anything wrong. I DID manage to download the program once and to process a small file but the next time I tried with the same file the photos show what I saw. I am baffled.
Thanks
Attn: Kyle
Good morning,
Following on from my message of Friday concerning the problems I am having with Starlight Mini.
Over the weekend I found out something that may be significant:
I have already said that I have been able to download the 7gb of the SM program and to test process a small file but that if, on a different occasion, I tried to process that same file again I had to go through the process of system check/download NanTB (which then changed into NanGB) etc, as shown on the five photos I sent you on Friday.
Over the weekend I ‘discovered’ that, after (successfully) processing a file, I could add a further file or further files, if I don’t turn off the program before processing the further file/files.
So, the Starlight Mini is on my computer, and it seems to work, but not from ‘cold’. It seems to forget all its start-up ‘instructions’.
I hope that the above may help you to work out what is going on in my case.
PS What does NanTB and NanGB refer to anyway?
Thank you.
The Nan reference is to the size of the file but it is being shown as a null value as there is a connection issue it seems. The team is looking into this and working on a patch to correct that issue and others with the model.
