Starlight Mini converts 5.1 audio to Stereo

I have a collection of videos that have both Dolby 5.1 and stereo audio tracks. When run through Starlight at minimum upscale, all 5.1 tracks are converted to stereo.

my system consists of:

Intel i9 12900KF
Asus RTX-5070 Ti (although the same occurs with an EVGA RTX-3080 Ti Hybrid)
16GB DDR7x VRAM
32 GB Corsair Dominator RAM
Gigabyte Aorus Master Z690 motherboard
All storage is on M.2 NVME drives

I have verified that CODEC settings are for Audio to copied. This happens every time, regardless of source, package or other settings.

Are you able to share a sample of your file so that the team can run some tests to see what is going on?

You can securely submit your file(s) to our Dropbox using the link below. Please be sure to send me a note to let me know you sent something and include the file name.

The copy feature maintains the files original container and format but Dolby 5.1 might still be getting flattened to a stereo two channel output from the app.

That is exactly what’s happening. If that is expected, there is no point in examining the file, but I’ve uploaded one anyway. I’ll just add an extraction of the 5.1 audio track to my workflow and add it back in after processing and run Starlight mini with no audio (which is the way it is processed anyway).

Thanks for the clarification.

Since audio track selection and copying over seems somewhat flawed with TVAI I’d suggest stripping the audio tracks from the file beforehand with e.g. MKVToolnix and rejoining them after the video has been processed in TVAI.
