Starlight Cloud Export – Only Getting MP4 + Wrong Aspect Ratio

Hi everyone,

I’m running Topaz Video with Starlight Mini locally and did some tests with Starlight Sharp via cloud export. I’ve run into two issues I can’t solve:

  1. Export Format – Cloud export only outputs an MP4 file no matter what settings I select. I need a proper .mov export (ProRes 422/444).
  2. Aspect Ratio – When I export locally, my 1.33 video gets automatically corrected to square. But from the cloud export, the result is squished instead of corrected.

What I’ve tried:

  • Multiple export settings and formats (no change).
  • Checked both the Topaz app and the web interface options.
  • Verified the source file works correctly with local rendering.

Questions:

  • Is there a way to force cloud export to output a 422/444 MOV instead of MP4?
  • Is there a fix or setting to maintain the proper aspect ratio on export?

Any guidance would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks,
Brian

Just following up cause I haven’t had any responses. There surely are different formats to export besides a compressed mp4 from these paid cloud renders for starlight, yes?

and it’s CFR23 encoded, It has already been criticized that this does not do justice to the expensive service

  1. The cloud only supports outputting AV1, VP9, H.264, H.265 in the MP4 container.
  2. Known issue currently with non-square pixel inputs. It doesn’t preserve the DAR metadata and processes the raw resolution as is. The best approach is to first convert your input to square pixels before running it through Starlight. A tool like Handbrake works well for this, you can set the output to square pixel and 16:9 aspect ratio so the video displays correctly. From there, you can process it in Starlight.
