Square area of colored gibberish appears over faces after face recovery in Topaz Photo AI

See the attached image.

I believer this problem started after the recent 3.2.2 update to Photo AI. Face recovery (and everything else in the computer) was working fine before that.

Steps to reproduce issue:

  1. Step 1: Updated my video drivers (Nvidia 770) to the latest version (ie, 475.14).
  2. Step 2: Confirmed that the problem appeared in stand-alone mode, as well as run from within PS. and LRclassic. I also tested it on different images (eg, large and small, different content, etc.).
  3. Step 3: Confirmed that I was running the latest updates to PS and LR.
  4. Step 4: Confirmed that the problem only occurred when doing face recovery. It doesn’t occur in other parts of Photo AI, or in any of the myriad other Topaz produces, nor in any other software.

HELP!!!

Sincerely,
Tom Manuccia

Topaz Photo AI [v1.x.x] on [Windows/Mac]

I had this same issue. Topaz reported to me that my GT 1030 video card didn’t have sufficient memory to use the latest upgrade. I had to downgrade a couple of versions to get it working again. I purchased a newer video card, but I haven’t installed it yet. Topaz recommends 8GB of VRAM. I got one with 12.

Hi Robert - Thank you very much for that information. After reading your reply, I’m sure I have the same problem (i.e., an old graphics card with too little memory and other flaws). In fact, it turns out that I recently ordered a brand new computer with a much better graphics card. It’s currently sitting in the corner just waiting for me to unbox it and set it up.

Thanks again,
Tom
