Speed up effect from apollo!

Does anyone else notice a keystone cops speed up effect from apollo? Chronos doesn’t do that. I’ve switched to chronos for interpolating movies from 25 to 50 fps no slo mo quite a while ago because of that.

I just wish chronos had less artifacts. I’d like topaz to work on that in the future. Chronos smoothness and no speed up effect combined with less artifacts. Chronos causes these square blocks especially bad if someone is walking laterally and there is a fence. But I’ve noticed in other scenes too. Scenes that shouldn’t be that difficult.

I’d also say unchecking replace duplicate frames and scene detection is an absolute must. There are no duplicate frames if you’re interpolating a blu ray rip. And scene detection is working without checking that. If you check replace duplicate frame you get a delayed blurring effect in between scene changes. And there are some artifacts from apollo as well. Kind of a strobing effect when panning over a light source.

Overall, chronos is definitely the best solution and looks the most natural and artifacts are not common, but they do occasionally happen.

Make absolutely sure you’re only doing an even multiple like 2 as well. That reduces artifacts and gets rid of stutters.

I have to say I just watched another movie with chronos and it’s really sensational. There might be a scene or two where you get those square blocks of artifacts, but it’s rare. Other than that, it’s near perfect as long as you’re 2x framerate.

The artifacts get terrible in chronos if you’re using uneven multiple of fps interpolation. That was my issue before I see now.

If you stick to 2x, other than an occasional scene where someone is running latterly with a certain geometry type fence in front of them, it’s sensational. So artifacts are occasionally seen, but rare and better than any tv could do.

After doing another movie, I don’t think artifacts are much worse than apollo, but motion is way more natural with chronos.

Just did another movie.. The only times chronos struggles a bit is in choppy water/pool ocean scene where someone is splashing water or certain fences/ unique/complex background geometry tiles when panning. Other than that it’s sensational and better than apollo for sure.
