Slow Motion, Decimals, and Duplicate Frames

As of TVAI version 4.0.6 putting a decimal number for Frame Interpolation > Slow Motion introduces duplicate frames with Apollo Fast model.

For example, I have a clip originally at 24 fps with no duplicate frames. I set Video > Frame Rate to 60 fps, and Frame Interpolation > Slow Motion to 1.4 with Apollo Fast as the Model. I also check Replace Duplicate Frames with a sensitivity of 10 for good measure. The resulting file runs at 60 fps, but every 7th frame is a duplicate of the 6th frame.

This does not happen under regular Apollo.

I have not tested with Chronos or Chronos Fast yet, but will update here if I do.

Are you still seeing this in later versions of the app? Did you ever test it using Chronos or Chronos Fast?

Yes, this is still an issue as of 4.0.9, which is the latest upgrade I have access to.

I just tested all four models, and the problem only appears with Apollo Fast.

Chronos, Chronos Fast, and Apollo all work as expected.

Let me know if you’d like example files.

Actually it doesn’t even need to be decimal slow motion – I have a clip that is 18 fps and when I change it to 60 fps using Apollo Fast with no slow motion, I get a pattern something like 6 normal frames, 1 dup, 2 normal frames, 1 dup, repeating.

Did you check the files in an external player / nle? The preview player in TVAI also duplicates frames when doing frame interpolation, although the preview file is okay when opened in an external program.

Yes, I verified the duplicate frames in QuickTime X and VLC.
