Hey, I’m back after building a new PC just to run SL. I can run SL2.5 locally but can’t run SL Mini??
Specs are..
Ryzen 5700x
32GB Corsair 3200 DDR4 LPX RAM
MSI RTX 5060ti 16GB.
I’m able to run SL 2.5 locally, Highs and lows of 0.2 to 1.5fps. video results are breathtaking! Very happy!!!
Unfortunately I can’t run other SL models (mini, sharp, HQ, fast ). The button to export is greyed out and when I try to click it, it said my hardware doesn’t meet the minimum requirements to run this model locally.
I don’t know if your case is a bug or not, but I can tell you that SL Mini is slower than SL2.5 (by about 2x). It launches and runs on my RTX 5070 12GB, but it’s very slow, so I don’t use it. If your case isn’t a bug, then the developers probably figured it would run too slowly on an RTX 5060 and disabled support for that card.
wait for the 1.7.0 update, it seems that someone wrote that they significantly accelerated the work of this model, perhaps because of this, the developers will allow it to run on your gpu.
1.7.0 is currently in beta testing. It’s been quite a while since the first news on this version, but I don’t know how much longer testing will take. You can request access here Topaz labs video beta testing group - Topaz Community or wait.
@NMC1983 The error message you are seeing is incorrect and is likely related to your account subscription tier rather than unsupported hardware
Starlight Mini (As well as Starlight Fast 2, Starlight Sharp, and Starlight HQ) can be ran locally with a Pro license.
That said, the good news is that we are bringing local support for the personal license for Starlight Mini in the next app update. Starlight HQ, Fast 2, and Sharp will continue to require a Pro license to use locally.
If you want to request to join the beta group, you’ll be able to use Mini locally in the beta version.
@sdfgsdgssdgdt363fg To give a bit of context on the history of the Starlight Mini model, the original Project Starlight model launched in February 2025 as a cloud-only model that couldn’t run locally. We later released Starlight Mini, an optimized version designed to run on consumer hardware. The original model has since evolved into what is now called Starlight Precise, currently at version 2.5. Our research team has made significant progress in optimizing it to run locally on consumer hardware, which wasn’t possible with the original release.
