Simulate LOG for old non-LOG footage

I’m dealing with a lot of restoration and upscaling of digital footage from 20+ years ago. It’s tough to say the least to color correct/grade old DV and VHS clips but I have found that upscaling them first and then correcting the upscaled versions seems to at least give me more to work with. I find myself wishing, however, that I could get my upscaled footage to have a virtual/simulated LOG profile. Basically, I’m suggesting that TVAI infer/generate/enhance more detail in the bright and dark and give the option to output something like LOG footage that I could then color correct and grade after the upscale. This would be amazing, even for non-LOG HD footage moving to 4k. And that’s my idea, thank you for coming to my TED talk.

I didn’t even come away learning what LOG means. I could look it up, but as with most TED talks, it’s not something I would use so I won’t bother.

I agree that this feature would be wonderful but as far as reading research, there isn’t much movement on temporally restoring highlights and shadows, so I doubt Topaz could put out anything usable
