I have noticed everytime I’m upscaling videos my ryzen 3600 cpu is always at 100%.
Should I just go out of my way to get a ryzen 7900? I wonder if the program will run a bit smoother with the new CPU.
And yes I know I need a new motherboard.

Yes seems to be the bottleneck, but when going to 7900x check your PSU power, use good CPU cooler, ram speed should be 5200 MT/s 2 x 16GB or 2 x 32GB. TVAI is gpu heavy for most models, so new CPU helps, but does not doubling your fps.
What you also can do is the easier and cheaper way by keeping the mainboard and buy a 5900x or 5950X (AM4), sure not as fast than the 7900x, but is still a good CPU with lower TDP…if you do this, check for Mainboard firmware update before replacing the cpu
I have both a computer with a 5900X and one with a 7900X. They work about the same for TVAI.
If I were to run the same 2 hour movie on them, the 7900X would get done first, but not by a huge amount of time. Both computers can do many other tasks while processing with no issues.
5900x costs under 300$, a good deal for upgrading existing system
