Sharpening & Denoising Mixed 4K Footage – Workflow Advice for VAI 6.1 New User

I am starting to use Video AI and would appreciate some general advice on the workflow.

I have 4K (3840 x 2160) 4:2:2 10 bit video mixed from two cameras. One of the camera was very slightly out of focus while the second one is pin-sharp, and they have been mixed into a single .mp4 AVC file. There is also a bit of noise as the stage was quite dark, and so the ISO bumped up.

I was going to give VAI a go to see if I could sharpen it a bit, and also clean up some of the noise. Having read the docs, and browsed these forums and have been trying a number of different settings but I would welcome suggestions as to the best workflow that other users have experienced.

For example, it would seem that the best preset to start with is the ‘Remove Noise’ preset, and then select the Artemis model. I also enabled Focus Fix.

I am trying different settings, and then exporting 30sec clips to see how they look - but would appreciate any feedback from anyone who uses VAI for this function.

I am running VAI 6.1.2 on Windows 10, 64 bit, AMD Ryzen 3960X 24-core, 96GB RAM and an RTX3090.

Thank you

Artemis is a good option to denoise and sharpen the video a bit. Another option would be to run Nyx for denoising and see how that compares.

You can also enable the parameters under the Nyx model to adjust what the model focuses on to try and dial in the results.

If you have not checked out the Video tutorials page, I would recommend looking at that as the team has been working to add up new videos as they can.

For some reason I had missed the tutorials - they were exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.
