Second enhancement: useful?

Anyone know how to use that function?
Dont understand very much, I use only protheus…with second enhancement there are dozen of ways…

First pass with dione and second with prothes?
First with protheus and then gaia?
firts with iris then arthemis?

Why there are again dione in the second pass?
And how to set values?

is it useful or adds little or nothing to the final quality?
I try first with dione and second with prothes but look not good…

When you enable second enhancement, both enhancements wil use the source video as the basis for their settings. Doing separate enhancement runs means the second will use the results of the first. Depending on which models you’re using, the results may be very different or not noticeable at all.

So generally how understand which model to use?
Maybe first protheus manual and then theia fidelity?
Have both fix compressions, sharpen and reduce noise…set value on protheus and leave 0 at theia?
Also value for intermediate…I set auto but dont know…

I just did an old interlaced SD wmv. The optimal workflow was:

  1. Dione V3 1:1, Bottom field first
  2. Run export through video editor to restore original framerate
  3. Proteus V4 1:1 with Improve detail, Sharpness and Anti-alias set to auto+50
  4. Artemis High V4 4X

Separate runs for each model. No way of knowing if this will work for anything else.

One remark: You should avoid providing an advise to a person by saying “Bottom field first” , because his/hers video field order might be “Top field first” (My SD videos some are TFF and others are BFF).
if he/she uses the wrong field order the video will flicker/stutter.

Even though you described your own personal flow, the person might think he needs to follow the exact parameters, hence he might select the wrong field order.

here is the advisable way that would avoid confusion:

1. Dione V3 1:1, Bottom field first (you might need to select "Top Field fists", depends on your Source. to be on the safe side, better you select "Auto")

Did you miss the part where I said, “No way of knowing if this will work for anything else?”

I’m not writing an instruction manual here.

I still stand on what I said and the sentence you mentioned does not mitigate the issue I raised.

Up to you if you want to embrace the advise I provided or not.

I find it very useful.
Depending on the source I tend to use either GaiaHQ or DioneRobustV3 as the second enhancement to enhance/preserve detail.
