RTX 5070 Laptop for Topaz Video – good enough for 4K remastering?

Hi everyone,

I mainly do 1080p → 4K remasters with Topaz Video AI (anime/movies/cartoon content).

I’m thinking about buying a MSI Crosshair 16 HX AI with RTX 5070 Laptop GPU.

Does anyone here use a RTX 5070 laptop for Topaz?

I’d love to know:

  1. average FPS with Proteus / Iris / Artemis
  2. VRAM limitations
  3. if it’s enough for heavy 4K remaster workflows

does the RTX 5070 Laptop actually support the newest Starlight models properly?

thank you

The RTX 5070 laptop GPU comes in an 8 GB and 12 GB option. I would recommend the 12 GB if you can get it. However, running on a laptop is not as ideal when running Starlight models for long files, due to cooling and power limitations.

It can work for the GAN-based models but you can still run into some heating issues with longer processing times.

Take a look at the User Benchmark threads for a gauge on performance with various GPU cards and systems.

If the card has 12GB of VRAM it can meet the System Requirements for Starlight Precise 2.5 and Mini, but you will need a Pro subscription for Mini to run locally in the new Topaz Video app.
