I had stepped away from using the software because of how buggy it was, but recently returned and am encountering same old issues. Also, I’ve tried other versions included latest releases and the issue occurs regardless of what version I am using.
The issue is the render contains frozen frames and black frames and some correctly rendered frames. Deleting preferences and restarting isn’t helping resolve. The issue occurs both in previews and exports. Currently trying to use Chronos to slow footage, however the issue isn’t to do with the model.
Also tried wiping Topaz off the system and did a clean reinstall. Problem’s still there.
The issue happens regardless of what codec I encode to. There is no audio in the files I’m trying to process.
After two years of trying to resolve persistent rendering issues in Video AI—black frames, frozen frames, and other glitches—I’ve finally found the culprit: ProRes 4444XQ as input.
Video AI clearly struggles with this codec. Switching to a different input format resolved the issue completely.
What’s frustrating is that I’d been submitting logs for a long time, yet support never flagged this as a potential cause. It would’ve saved me two years of grief if this had been picked up earlier.
Posting here in case it helps anyone else running into the same issue.
