Remove Tool, "Error loading model" after clicking Enable button (2.2.1, macOS)

Version 2.2.1, running on M1 Mac. After clicking the “enable” button, the circular progress indicator just sits there spinning, and then I get an “Error loading model” at the top of the screen. I tried a re-install. I’m assuming it’s having trouble finding/downloading the model files.

Try setting PAI Settings(Preferences)>AI Processor to CPU for the initial Remove Tool Enable step. That’s what I had to do on my 2019 MacBook Pro (Intel Core i9). Change that setting back to what you want after the tool is fully enabled.

NB: It may not make any difference on your M1 Mac.

Thanks Jeff. I tried this and unfortunately it didn’t make any difference.

@morg I’m running the same version on an M2Pro using macOS 14.2.1 without any issues.
What OS are you running and how much RAM does your system have?

I’d like to get some more information to help troubleshoot the problem you are having.

Could you send us your computer’s full system profile?

Also if you can, please try to recreate this error message in Topaz Photo AI, then go to Help > Open Log Folder, please send me all of the files within that folder. You should be able to attach them directly as a response to this email.

You can securely submit your files(s) to my Dropbox using the link below. Please be sure to send me a note to let me know you sent something.

Dropbox File Request

Good morning! Both uploaded.

Thanks for sending those in.

The minimum requirement for using the Remove Tool on macOS is MacOS 13 or later, and it is not supported on Macs with AMD GPUs.

According to your .spx file that you sent in you are currently on MacOS 12.7.2. You would need to update your system version to make this feature work.

Thank you!
Unfortunately I’ll be stuck on this OS for a bit due to some other compatibility issues.
But at least it’s good to know the culprit.
