After cropping and resizing a photo, and then using the Recovery mode the rendering time is very slow on a 2020 Intel iMac. I would like to see a faster rendering process if possible. Rendering times vary between a couple of hours to leaving the process to run all night, then once this has finished, exporting the final image takes hours as well.
A faster processing speed for the Recovery model would be tremendous and something we’re working on.

The Recovery model is already very intensive, but we may be able to assist in your processing speeds by changing your AI Processor.
To change your AI Processor in Gigapixel, follow the steps below.

Open Gigapixel as a standalone.

Click Edit > Preferences. On Mac, you’ll click Topaz Gigapixel AI > Settings.

Change your AI Processor to your AMD video card and click Save.

A question comes to mind. I have an M1 MacBook Pro, and Recovery is understandably slow on large images. But what I don’t understand is that once I see the image on the screen, it then sometimes takes a very long time to save (I don’t know how long). It seem like it should be rendered and in memory or swap space at that point and should take only the time any other file of its size takes to write or copy. Am I missing some important detail in my understanding of this?

I understand your concern for the speed here.
I believe that is normal behavior for it at the moment. We are working on some similar models that should be released in the next few updates that will help give you the quality of the Recovery model with better speeds!
