Is there a recommended setting configuration for the Mac M4 Max (macOS Sequoia)? From previous posts I read that it can be more efficient reducing the max memory % to less than 100. Is this still true?

Yes, it’s still true but only for low res 1x and partly 2x encodings.
And mostly for the „old“ models Artemis, Proteus, Iris.
The new models are slow in any setting, also Iris is underperforming since a long time (and likely never will be fixed again).
I guess for M3 iMac it’s a bit different. I don’t have a high end Mac since I just do Home Videos DVD or smaller. I did the benchmark one at 10% and one 100% memory. Seems that upscaling at 100% memory for standard 480p is slightly faster than 10% memory. I use Proteus preset to standard FHD setting. 10% shows 22.36fps. 100% shows 22.74fps.
