Recent Update 1.4.2 breaks Topaz AI

Hi,
After the most recent update, Topaz AI is unusable. The images in the work area are so dark they are useless.
I experience the same behavior if I start Topaz AI outside of Lightroom.

Loom Video demonstrates the problem. The image in the video was successfully edited in LR with Topaz AI before the update.

I will say this update was different than others because

  1. I had to re-register the software
  2. The plugin disappeared from Lightroom until I rebooted everything.
  3. Topaz AI doesn’t work

What can be done to resolve this?
Thanks

As you haven’t stated any os or technical info, have you tried reinstalling?

It was notified with the 1.4 release notes you would be required to login to the app again.

Running Lenovo Legion 5 running Windows 11 trying to update to current version 1.4.2

This is the same hardware I’ve been using since Topaz was first installed.
I’ve been through several upgrades. I did not read the release notes, I just clicked the “update available” button.

I did not try a re-install as that seems like overkill for an update. But I’ve only been using this product for several months, so I don’t know if that is common practice for this software.

Thanks for reaching out. It looks like we don’t have support for this Samsung DNG file yet.

Please send the file so I can reproduce this and make a task for my team. You can securely submit your image(s) to my Dropbox using the link below. Please be sure to send me a note to let me know you sent something.
Dropbox File Request

And here I thought all DNG files were standardized. Another knack for Samsung.
They usually don’t make it off my phone, but I thought I’d try something new.

As you requested, I uploaded two files via the Dropbox link. Both are Samsung DNG, but the bird image seems to work okay.

In this case the DNG itself is a container for a RAW file holding sensor data, not what you see as a DNG generated by applications.

You could try to use the free Adobe DNG Converter to convert your Samsung DNGs (RAW) to DNG and see if they can be used.

DNG is a container with significant variation in the file data. The metadata in the file especially will vary which can cause issues like this.

To work around it, you can use the Photo > Edit in > Topaz Photo AI method to create a TIF copy instead.

I’ll make a task for my team to look into this DNG file.
