Tried setting the data directory during installation.

  1. Why do I have to type a path in manually…where is the folder button to navigate and choose a folder?
  2. STILL creates a presets folder in the old location under ProgramData with a single file in it (.gitignore).
  3. Still recreates that folder and file at next launch if you delete it.

Tried to convert FPS without any other operations and it simply does nothing. No preview, no export. It just sits there like you never pushed a button.

Under Enhance - Proteus the Auto & Estimate buttons don’t do anything?

I didn’t even catch that one. I think this round needs to go back in the cooker…it’s not ready. LOL

It seems that absolutely no internal testing occurs, or some of these things could never make it out the door, even in alpha.

This is what i’m talking about, you can’t build on a jank foundation. Idgaf if the interface looks like Windows 3.1 so long as it does what it is supposed to do & does it well.

I’m not expecting the miracle of scaling old 480 interlaced to 4k but like at the very least how do you not try all the buttons b4 you send it out.

I’m also fine if we’re the testers for all this, that’s what we signed up for but between the login debacles (why are we even needing to login, this is nowhere near a finished product) it’s just an unnecessary waste of time on both ends to deal with & can a memo go out to choose an install path and stick with it plz. Half the time it goes in ā€œVideo Enhance Aiā€ and the other ā€œTopaz Video Enhance Aiā€

Putting aside that, there is the msi installer which windows keeps a copy of & will repair the install if anything is moved from any location…like why…just more unnecessary hurdles. You can write hardware accelerated scripts for encoding video but can’t compile your own installer.

At this rate it’s going to be 2024 before this thing is ready & by then the landscape will have changed so much you may as well start all over again…ffmpeg…Vce…Nvenc…are all updated constantly.

IMO you should be focused on performance…not appearance.

Exporting is slower than ever. While I do think the UI looks pretty nice now, actually using it is a nightmare. The output video, double click, nothing. Right click? No options such as "go to folder’. MPG videos are very blocky when previewing, or when dragging them into the application, it straight up crashes everything. I am really hoping the next update can be all about performance and workflow, because this isn’t cutting it.

Step forward 1 frame works ok. Step backwards 1 frame is buggy and moves randomly with each click. 1 frame then 10 frames, then 35 frames etc.

UI is better than what we started with but needs frames number indicators like in V2.
I would also like to have the V2 preview style back. I don’t need to make preview clips. If I need to check out a final result I always make a clip myself.

I know this is an Alpha and building something will take a long time, and I will continue to use V2 for my videos. But please start fixing the bugs in the next releases.

Lee - the folder icon is still there. Can you please send me a screenshot of where it’s missing in Preferences?

Thank you! Will look into this.

We can reproduce the Estimate button doing nothing but Auto in Proteus works for me. Can you please tell me or even better send me a screenshot of what happens when Auto toggle does nothing? For example, do you turn it on but nothing at all happens with the sliders?

Thanks, Tom. We have been working on performance and stability while other members of the team have been working on the UI. We’ll be fixing double-clicking the exported video (or using the eye icon on the exported video) doing nothing. We are also considering adding a ā€œgo to folderā€ instead. Can you please tell me what your hardware is (OS and discrete GPU type) and send me one of your MPG files that’s causing those issues? Submit File to Dropbox.

Thank you.

We’re working on all these items. Thank you.

  • I didn’t succeded to make this version working for me. when launching the preview, nothing happen. the preview doesn’t add itself to the list of job, to do. same for the export, nothing happen.
I maybe missed something. when clickin on preview it add it (0/1) and once finished it write ā€œ1/1ā€ but nothing happens. same with export. i see the use of the gpu, the 0/1 next to export, but no other informations.

  • i see clearly a problem in the future with the thumnails, unless, an option would help to display the batch videos import as a grid. if we import like 20 or 30 videos clip on it, the big thumbnails with the vertical display is not that great. it will become an issue at some points. having a list of files, with the thumb displaying in one area only when we select the file, or an another way would be much better. but it’s certainly not a definitive design so we’ll see :).

edit : the export worked, the file is on my hardisc, but that’s all, there is nothing else in the software itself, no info line, no ā€œin progressā€ or anything else.

Yes, the sliders just stay on zero. I am using Windows 11.

Not preferences…that has NEVER worked in the 3.x cycle. I was told to set the data directory during installation since it is the only way to actually set it. It has no folder icon, and you have to type in the path manually.

Can you explain how no one clearly tested this before it was released to us? It’s honestly unfathomable, and keeps happening. EVERY button and function should be tested before it goes out.

I think performance will probably be the last thing worked on as the basic functionality has to be there first, and we are a long way away from having that.

As far as ffmpeg and nvenc being updated it should be trivial for them to release updated builds to keep up.

As per the screenshot posted by your own dev Nipun at the top of this thread, the proteus sliders all stay at the mid-point (0) on ā€˜Auto’ setting and when you turn off ā€˜Auto’ they all go to the far left, except the last slider (Anti-alias/deblur) which stays in the middle. Pressing estimate button also does nothing! This is repeatable and does it on every video input I’ve tested.
