I have several high-speed videos that shot on the phone and sent over Whatsapp. It lowers video bitrate to mere 2Mbps.
Both Proteus and Iris yield unsatisfactory results: Proteus keeps “ladders” from the macroblocks and smoothes out far details like mountains.
Meanwhile Iris makes everything sharp and adds unnatural details to the foliage and grass.
I tried Rhea and it tries to create faces on the mountain walls, which is fabulously wrong.
My solution is to overlay Iris over Proteus in Premiere, set Iris layer opacity at 45..50% depending on the level of detail I want to appear over Proteus’ smoothness.
Let’s see the original video:
A Proteus approach:
An Iris approach:
And now a combined effort:
A more compressed scene:
Proteus:
Iris:
Combined:
Now the scene where both models fail to reconstruct distant trees; Iris creates fake flower-like pattern whereas Proteus just smooshes out a whole tree!

Proteus:

Combined:
And a couple of Rhea hallucinations:
Have you found the faces?
Here is the original file to play with:
I hope my contribution will be useful.
