My #1 wish would be native Linux clients for the major applications. I don’t expect this wish to come true in 2024, so my secondary wish would be a slightly smoother experience under Wine.
TPAI already runs under Wine, but could do with some TLC. Performance could probably be improved with some work on GPU integration, but the low hanging fruit is the installation process.
Currently, installing TPAI under Wine requires two passes. First the installer runs until it fails with an error message. Then you need to terminate the process before the installer deletes what it has tried to install. Then, finally, you run the installer again to repair the installation. I can live with this somewhat convoluted installation and upgrade process, but I think it will put a lot of potential users off. Most people will probably assume that it is not going to work and some of them won’t even search for a workaround.
I’m not suggesting a complete rewrite from the ground up, but if one developer spent a few hours on it, perhaps the wrinkles in the installation process could be ironed out? If it turns out that there is a fundamental problem, then perhaps a brief mention in the release notes (or some appropriate place) of the ‘double pass installation process’ under Wine might be considered?
I’m also not suggesting that Linux/Wine should be considered a fully supported platform, but perhaps resources could be allocated to testing each of the major applications under Wine once a year or so? And perhaps also when major changes have been made (case in point: TPAI v2.0.6 was built on a new version of Qt which in turn required a new version of Wine)?
My wish list:
Bring back the viewing capabilities that are present in Sharpen AI and Denoise AI, especially the Split View and comparison. I wish I had a way to compare side-by-side the various sharpening and denoise models in PAI like I did in those other tools. As it is I can only apply one model at a time, and I have no means of comparing.
Add in Rotation to the Crop Tool.
It would be better to split Actions so we could see what each was doing in turn, working our way down the menu eg Crop, Upscale, Remove noise, Sharpen, etc.
Sort out the Adjust Lighting to be slider to be able to go darker or lighter and a contrast adjustment.
Sort out the Balance Colour to be more adjustable.
I feel unhappy in that I don’t understand the product positioning any longer. I was talked into getting photo ai by one of you emails, which was essentially saying gigapixel etc was being decommissioned. Then I get sent an email suggesting I buy gigapixel and others again. now I get a message only mentioning gigapixel / photo ai, video ai, but not the others - . Also there is nothing of substance in this message, just saying it will be good isnty enough, how will it be good? There is actually no information in this letter, just an overview of products. You guys have been promising you video product would get better for a long time now, but I got tired of waiting and stopped buying it.
Sorry for all the negativity, but this is honest feedback which is usually what companies want.
Sorry for mistakes I broke my arm 2 days ago and am typing left handed.
The most important fix/enhancement is how well the software deals with different skin tones, especially darker skin tones. My daughter’s skin is a beautiful deep tone but Photo AI has a hard time recognizing her features and enhancing them properly.
Thank you for this communication which makes us impatient!!!
What I would like:
Video AI plugin for Final Cut Pro
an improvement in quality
improved speed
Being able to use Video AI again on my MacPro 2019
I completed a feature film (Dance! on IMDB) where I used Video AI on 80% of the shots (2012 archive in 1080i). But each time I had to start from the original rushes to replace the part used in the FCP timeline, sometimes including rushes lasting an hour for use of a few seconds or minutes. It would have been great if I could have just placed a Video AI plugin on these shots in my edit. And especially since with the Video AI updates, I won’t have to redo everything.
In addition, as VAIE no longer works on my MacPro 2019, I had to do these calculations during the last year on my MacPro 2013.
Please integrate ALL functions, tools, features and options found in Gigapixel into Photo AI. If a user owns Photo AI, they should be able to continue to use Photo AI without having to switch to Gigapixel for features and tools that may not be present in PhotoAI.
I’m late to the discussion but I would love to see iPadOS support on these apps. Now that we have M1/2 support, the processor seems like it should be able to support it.
I tend to travel with an iPad vs MacBook and this would cut down on what I carry and improve my workflow.
I use Sharpening AI and DeNoise AI, the standalone products when Photo AI does not provide sufficient sharpening/denoising. It would be be great if you can include the same capabilities of those products into Photo AI.
I would also hope that you can improve the sharpening. I have sent some images to your tech support where Sharpen AI fails to work well.
I shoot weddings and, depending on the location in the venue, a bridesmaids dress can be three different colors in three different locations. At ImagingUSA last week, I asked every AI vendor if their software could solve this problem by making all the dresses the same shade. None of them would / could do so. This would be a helpful addition to your program.
Great news! I look forward to what PhotoAI will bring in terms of ’ Natural and photorealistic results - sounds like your enhancing the images using Generative AI? If that functionality looks halfway decent, I will (re-)purchase PhotoAI, and I’ll be happy to do so.
Hi, I own Gigapixel AI, deNoise AI, Sharpen AI, and Photo AI. I have a UI feature enhancement request. Please let us place the focusing white rectangle where we want BEFORE processing starts. Currently, the rectangle can’t be moved until after one pass completes, and then after moving the rectangle (e.g., to someone’s face), I have wait while re-processing occurs. Very annoying. Perhaps, this rectangle could also be resizable before initial processing occurs.
You wanted to hear what I most desired in Your Products, well here it is. Please make it so when I make corrections in Lightroom using Topaz, that I can change the Title of the Copy. Right now all I get is copy #, edit 1, edit 2 , edit3, etc. If somehow I could put it in the Title that I used a Topaz Product (and which one), I would be able to easily go back to the right Copy for Printing and or more Edits.
I’d like to see a Photo AI app for IOS. Obviously it wouldn’t have all of the functionality of the desktop version but if Photoshop and Lightroom can have phone apps, why can’t Topaz.
Your Photo AI software is remarkable and I use it all the time. While I know your internal resources are limited, I respectfully ask that you continue to support your creative programs; e.g., Impression2, Adjust, Texture, etc. I and thousands of creative photographers (Dave Kelly is among the more outspoken from his YouTube channel) IMPLORE you to support these sweet programs. I’ve bought most of them and am continually disappointed to see them sunset as newer Adobe software renders them unusable. PLEASE show them some love and more customers will love you back.
Perhaps you can develop an SDK for third party programs to use your tools as a plugin. You probably have most of what you need already, since you have Photoshop plugins.
For my still photo use I’ve been very impressed with Sharpen AI and DeNoise AI. While I appreciate the convenience of Photo AI, it just doesn’t do as good a job (for me) as the individual apps, especially DeNoise, so I hope you’ll keep the dedicated noise and sharpening apps.
