Playhead takes up to 30 secs to reach the frame entered in the "Frame #" field

I am using VideoAI 5.2.1 on a MacBook Pro 16-inch 2023 (Apple M2 Max) with macOS 14.5.

I noticed that VideoAI is slow at reaching the frame entered in the “Frame #” field.

Depending on the number entered, I must wait up to 30 seconds for the playhead to reach the requested frame. That is very annoying, considering that I use that feature two times (to set the IN and the OUT) for every single clip I process with VideoAI.

There can be some delay in selecting frames depending on what other apps you have running in the background and the size of the video input, resolution and the AI models being applied.

Try clearing the Plist for Video AI and restarting the app to see if that helps.

How To Delete Your Plist Files

Dear @kyle.topazlabs, before replying to other users’ questions, could you try understanding the issue and possibly reproducing it on your machine? Instead of making me do a further investigation (actually involving me in a process that is supposed to be carried out by a Topaz employee), why don’t you confirm that Video AI executes the mentioned task with no delays on your machine?

I did test this out on my system first and to show you that it does work here is a screen recording.

play head time line test

As I stated there can be a delay at times depending on the clip or clips you have loaded in the app and what else is running on your system at the time. In that test I did have other apps running in the background but this is a short clip that did not have any effects applied to it yet.

@kyle.topazlabs Since you seem to like screen recordings…

You can download the video files used for that test here:

Thank you for sharing those. Passing along the info to the engineers for further review and escalation.

Thanks @kyle.topazlabs !
