PhotoAI installantion Permissions Issue on Windows 11

I bought Topaz Photo AI on Dec 29.
a) I am able to download the TopazPhotoAI-2.2.1.msi
b) I am the administrator on my machine which satisfies all the system requirements
c) when I click on the .msi file, I get the Windows system dialogbox that says
“windows cannot access the specified device path or file. you may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item”
d) I have an older version of DeNoiseAI. I uninstalled it and tried the above, did not work
e) installing DeNoiseAI again went through smoothly. So this seems like a TopazPhotoAI installer file issue

Steps to reproduce issue:

  1. Download TopazPhotoAI-2.2.1.msi
  2. Click to installl
  3. Get the system message “windows cannot access the specified device path or file. you may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item”

You need to inspect the permissions on the MSI file by:

  1. Right-click the file and then select Properties.
  2. Select the Security tab.
  3. Under Group or User names, click your name to see the permissions you have. …

Then post a screenshot here.

Thank you. I have included the screenshots.

You will need to check if the user ID you are logged on under is in the Administrators group because, usually, your username (if it has administrator access) will appear as mine does here:

I have checked - I do have admin privileges

Also, TopazDeNoise installs perfectly well from the same account. PhotoAI does not.

I want to get some more information to troubleshoot the problems you are facing during the installation process. Please follow the directions below:

First, please disable antivirus, firewall, VPN, or proxy that may be on your computer. These are known to block the installer from downloading the model files. Then, please follow the below instructions to get the installer log for Topaz Photo AI.

  1. Delete all Photo AI installers from your Downloads folder.
  2. Download the latest Topaz Photo AI installer from the downloads page: Topaz Labs Download Page
  3. Make sure the installer is in your Downloads folder and has the filename: TopazPhotoAI-2.2.2.msi
  4. Open Command Prompt from your Start menu. You can type in Command Prompt in Search and open it.
  5. Copy and paste “cd downloads” (without the quotes) into the Command Prompt and hit Enter.
  6. Copy and paste “msiexec /i TopazPhotoAI-2.2.2.msi /l*v logfile.txt” (without the quotes) into the Command Prompt and hit Enter.
  7. The installer should open up. Run it as usual.
  8. After the installation finishes, please send me “logfile” created in your Downloads folder.

This should show me exactly what is happening in the installer that is blocking the internet connection if the issue isn’t any of the above security applications.

You can securely submit your files(s) to my Dropbox using the link below. Please be sure to send me a note to let me know you sent something.
