The upscale function for Photo AI and Gigapixel AI seems not working well for the picture below, where the children’s face is interrupted after upscaling.
I applied all options of upscalling for Photo and Gigapixel AI, also turned off face recovering feature but the result is not good.
By right, after upscalling the children’s face should be smooth ( face recovering turned off ) but the upscale result showing the children’s face very bad.
hi, I don’t expect to be perfect but if you take a look at the children’s face, the face restore feature is turned off, so I expect the upscale result should at least shown the blur face, just like using the Paint.NET to resize it to 3840x2160.
“Do you really think that there are any upscale software can restore such small faces ?”
It won’t hurt for trying I have a portion extracted from a group of peoples captured in HD in a city below.
Yes understand, what I means is, “the face restoring is turned off”, so the upscale should be almost identical the original one, you try to use Paint.NET and resize an image to 4k, the resized portion should be identical to the original one right ?
Here, I re-scaled to 4k via Paint.NET and review again under upscale method in Photo AI, what I am looking for is like below.
From comparison above, the children’s sleeve edge picture on the right with arrow indicated is bit blocky, and it had been smoothed out on the left photo downscaled by Photo AI.
Good to know that Photo AI does smoothing out edges where I have converted raw HD to 8k to 4k under Paint.NET compared with the 4k image from Paint.NET then under Photo AI, it is upscaled to 8k then downscaled to 4k via Photo AI, no regrets.
Any reason why Photo AI cannot directly upscale smoothly to 4k without interrupting the children’s face in this case where I have to resize the image to 4k under Paint.NET then imported to Photo AI to upscale to 8k then downscale back to 4k to get the proper result ?
Are you honestly saying that Topaz blurs all faces because of some Japanese law? I think that would be crazy.
I’m not in Japan and we don’t have any such laws in the UK.
I have been to Japan but was doing more landscape photos there.
Anyway if I look online of images of people in Japan I don’t see all the faces blurred.
But you have touched on an issue that I have noticed recently, that parts of faces are getting blurred, maybe AI is doing that on purpose? This is a problem using AI.
No, Topaz did not blurs anything, I used Paint.NET to manually blur my images, as I am publishing own images as part of software bundle, to play safe, I will blur a bit on public faces to prevent the submission from being rejected by the asset store service provider.
