Photo AI structure shows up in noise removal

[Please describe your issue here. Try to include logs (Help → Logging) and add screenshots if necessary.]
When using Topaz Photo AI to remove noise I came across some structures that were introduced by that process (or at least I cannot make them appear before using denoising). The screenshot of the preview already shows it in the upper part of the right panel with the settings applied for preview.

It is hard to make out but once you see it it can’t be unseen. Look for slightly lighter horizontal lines in the sky. They are easier to spot if you take the screenshot and put a reversed S-curve on it:

It’s horizontal and vertical lines, the horizontal ones being a bit lighter, the vertical a bit darker than the surrounding areas. These structures only appear in the right side of the preview (i.e. in the one with the preview applied). It’s not a preview issue, as I discovered it on the further processing of the image.

Steps to reproduce issue:

  1. Step 1
Load image from CameraRAW to Photoshop. Invoke Photo AI.
  2. Step 2
    Select ‘Removing noise’
  3. Step 3
Look for the structure in preview window.

Thanks for sending the file. It looks like there is a faint grid artifact appearing in the output.

I had to add a few adjustments to the image to see the grid appear. We are working on a solution for this artifact soon.

Thanks Lingyu!
Yes, it is very faint and I’m not surprised that it hasn’t been recognised earlier. It’s just that in further processing of the images (i.e. spreading the tones in skies and similar things or applying pseudo HDR or increasing micro contrast) these structures become visible without looking for them. These post processing procedures are also the reason I need the de-noising in the first place.
I’m happy that it isn’t something related to the camera as I’m confident you can eliminate this in future releases.
Keep up the good work!
