Photo AI not sharpening images

The sharpening option doesn’t seem to be working in Photo AI. If trying to use Sharpen only (i.e., Remove Noise is turned off), there is no difference between the before and after version of the image using standard sharpening. Strong sharpening merely adds more noise.

Steps to reproduce issue:

1. Open Photo AI from Lightroom Classic (Photo > Edit In > Photo AI)
2. Edit copy with Lightroom adjustments
3. Turn off Remove Noise
4. Turn on Sharpen
5. Enlarge image to 400% to see effect

Hi @linda.deith! This photo will need to be denoised first before it can be sharpened – when an image has a large amount of noise in it, sharpening the image can accentuate existing noise.
