Performance on M1 Macbook Air

I am finding performance on my M1 so slow as to be unusable.
Performance on my M1 Studio is fine.
RAM is not full but CPU use is high, although it does not appear to be using all CPUs

Any suggestions or is an M1 just too slow?

Earlier Topaz software works fine on the Mac.
