Oversharpening

I find that I always have to cut back significantly on the sharpening

Yes this has been reported by a few users. I agree I find on Auto, generally it is over sharpening and halos are created.

But on blurry images it is not sharpening enough. I have found Sharpen AI does a better job without the halos. There is some colour shifting going on in PAI as well.

Think the auto pilot needs more development.

But surely that depends on the image, how much sharpening is required. Auto should be selecting the correct setting but is not.

There is not really such a thing as the one and only correct setting as this depends on personal preference and also use case.

Thus you can and should adjust the Autopilot accordingly - where’s the problem?

P.S.: For my taste the standard setting is much too sharp as well - the more advisable is it to customise this as shown by @lhkjacky

Well it should not be producing halos for one thing, especially quite large ones. Also it should be sharpening objects, where possible, so they are sharp not still out of focus. Why is Sharpen AI better?

What is the point of auto, if you have to adjust it everytime? What is the point of Auto Pilot, if it is wrong all the time and takes up time.

They should have sliders, so you can adjust it finely and view on a preview screen.
The previous version was better than this!
