Output scale setting PART 2

Adding on from my earlier topic regarding this matter;

ORIGINAL TOPIC - PART 1

I just want to update you guys that’s this is not working as intended within Autopilot in v2.1.1.

With Autopilot, the idea was the software would figure out the longest edge (if that’s what you wanted) and set it to a fixed size on output. This way, a folder containing mixed landscape and portrait images would all come out at similar sizes.

When choosing - Preferences → Autopilot → Upscale & Resize

Then choosing the following;

Set Output Size - longest Edge - 4000 px - Disable downscaling

This does not create the intended outcome. I dropped a folder of 400 images, a mixed bag of landscape and portrait. I then went into Autopilot to set the “longest edge” to 4000 px. I closed the Preferences box, and went back to the main UI. I could see there was an issue in the right hand menu bar before I had even started the process. It says “Upscaling to 4000px Height” - THIS IS WRONG. I never specifically set the height to be 4000px, even though that option was there in Preferences. I specifically chose “Longest edge” not “Height” so the software would know to apply the 4000px to the appropriate size based on orientation.

In the end I ran it just to see if the UI was just wrong and if in fact it would do the job properly. It didn’t.

ORIGINAL PORTRAIT IMAGE SIZE: 533x800
ORIGINAL LANDSCAPE IMAGE SIZE: 800x533

OUTPUT RESULTS;

CORRECT PORTRAIT: 2665x4000
CORRECT PORTRAIT: 4000x2665

ACTUAL PORTRAIT RESULTS: 2665x4000 / 2131x3198
ACTUAL LANDSCAPE RESULTS: 6004x4000 / 4800x3198

As you can see from the results, there was a complete mixed bag of resolutions that were output. Of the 400 images, about 20 portrait images were at the correct resolution of 2665x4000 and all the rest were incorrectly at 2131x3198. When it came to landscape images, there were NONE that came out correctly. The correct resolution should have been 4000x2665 but not a single one came out that way. It was applying the 4000px to the shortest side. Why portrait or landscape images had TWO resolutions when they were all the same size depending on their orientation baffles me. Hopefully your team can have a look at this issue and figure out what’s wrong. I would like to see the main menu bar show “Upscaling to 4000px LONGEST SIDE” in a future fix, just so that it’s clear what the expected outcome is.
