I plan to update Topaz Video AI at some point when new models are released, but for now, we’re stuck with the OFX plugins.
I’m advocating for OFX plugins to be independent of the main software update process because, for many updates, there have been little to no improvements to them (bugs and unusability). Especially in DaVinci Resolve, where the plugin is pretty unstable. Even when it works, applying an effect to a clip still results in background processes that ramp up CPU usage and the fan making noise until Resolve is closed and re-opened.
It seems like the plugin remains loaded and continuously “executed” even when we’re not actively playing a clip that uses the effect.
Additionally, due to the way software updates are handled, along with the one-year upgrade period, many users can find themselves stuck in a “limbo” between versions. And not really knowing which one should they stay with. More importantly, for me, the OFX plugin was a key reason I renewed for another year, as I was hoping to significantly reduce my editing time.
Long story short, updating the OFX plugin independently of the main software would be a great improvement.
I just saw an - update - for the plugin with 6.0.4, I’ve installed and uninstalled betas and other version to test so many times in the past, but it’s not really a good use of time. I’m not alone with that I think.
