Would like to hear what is your Nyx v1 settings you found works best for you?
(i would like to see nyx1+2 being implemented as nyx lq + mq because both are good in their own way, and nyx 1 can help out where nyx2 is going crazy)
unfortunately, nyx1 is now limited to 150% of the original video size, so ouf…
I spent a good amount of time trying nyx1 and got it working on light scenes. Then I checked those setting in darker more noisy scenes and it was not great. Nyx2 was super bad on every setting.
I cannot get relative to auto to not mess things up and make them look like paintings. Might as well use Artemis MQ for denoising. If I could force it to keep all but the denoise slider at 0, I think it would work perfect in relative to auto mode. My conclusion for now is that EZDenois through QTGMC is still better than nyx1 at denoising.
I am not so much bothered about the upscaling capabilities of Nyx as I want to run it as a pre upscale pass. i was more wondering what Nyx settings works best for you, not so much a Nyx (v1) pros vs. cons debate.
fair enough.
nyx isn´t really special in its settings (auto-estimate usually goes into the right direction, then) try manually targeting what you feel is prevalent in the footage) with previewing the same piece of footage many times over with slightly different settings - but as of right now, it has limited capabilities dealing with bad/mediocre footage (which unfortunately includes pretty much any type of dirt spots/lines/scratches/defects). going over high quality footage however, nyx can work wonders.
So I understand from your answer you are using Auto, which works best for you when using Nyx.
I think Nyx needs a quite negative Antialias/Deblur value (especially for nyx2) in relative to auto as it otherwise tends to drastically oversharpen.
oh no, i never use “auto” on anything. what for?
i go through the footage, select different scenes which i think the engine model could have issues with, see what auto-estimate thinks about each of these scenes, and then try to fine tune the proposed settings to deliver satisfactory results in all the scenes i checked.
i do that for everything, not just nyx, so i haven´t got anything “special” to say about nyx settings except for what i could repeat from above: nyx is only really good for high quality footage.
So back to my original question / post, what are the Nyx settings (Manual values / Relative Auto values) you work with mostly that you find works best for you?
imho, there is no 1 answer, no “best values”. it depends entirely on the source material, which is why i described my method of getting near to the best values for a specific piece of footage.
