New Topaz 2.1.2 Weird junk in photo

I just got Topaz 2.1.2 today. I tried several pictures, and it seems to do almost nothing, except when it “hallucinates.” I’m not a photo pro, and am surely lacking the right vocabulary, but–

Here’s a sample screen shot. I can’t even tell which side of the screen is supposed to be the improved version, but it’s on the right that I see the hallucinations:
