the feature “Modify Subject” using the Subtract brush have no effect. The selected area will be enhanced anyway.

Are you Saving the masking adjustment you are making?
The mask is only used for Sharpen at the moment. Other AI filters do not use the mask.

Because with every change, the software starts anyway a new process automatically?

Saving is required. Changing the subject mask will modify the Autopilot analysis to determine if sharpen is needed for the new subject.
We can work on improving this behavior in the future to be faster.
