at least in art images, areas that are predominantly black tend to get lighter with a sort of “hard/indexed gradient” effect. i doubt this is actually a bug, it seems pretty consistent with what i see a couple other people use with their programs (Topaz or not, i don’t know).
easy fix, but if it can be avoided after using PAI, that’d be nice

I can see how this can be frustrating for you. Can you try toggling “Enable sRGB Preview Fallback” in the settings? Go to the Topaz Photo AI menu option in the top left corner of the app > Preferences > General.

It doesn’t seem to do much, if anything. That, or TPAI seems to be able to use my monitor’s colorspace without any issue, which is still nice.
Could you send us 2 example files so we can reproduce this issue and compare the outputs?
