MacBook Pro 16 killer

This MBP has never had any strains editing 5k video or rendering RAW photos, but Video AI grinds my system to its knees. The attached photo shows I am not upscaling, just using the “Enhancement” tab, and I am getting .8fps. Reading through the community pages, most are complaining getting 2-8 fps! Would this be a Sonoma issue? Thank you for the ad.

8 fps is still quite good. my rtx 2070 super was slower.

Use such hardware for AI-intensive processing is like swimming across Atlantic with snorkel and flippers only. Obviously you need the ship. The same, you need AI-oriented hardware for real AI-processing.

Had the same issues so i switched to an M1 Mac Mini. No more problems.

He was getting 0.8fps

No, but your gfx card is just too weak for these AI tasks.

Nothing you can do about that except for:

  • live with it
    or
  • buy new hardware

that is too slow indeed. :frowning:

Its ironic I bought the MBP for 5k editing, but updating 720/480 to even 1080 cripples my 'puter.

Well, those are two very different tasks.
While hardware support on this computer for video de- and encoding is still decent enough (and thus video encoding can go fine) the shear computing power of those intel integrated graphics chips is just very bad.

Same as if you wanted to seriously game with that rig - it wouldn’t be anywhere near capable for that.
