Linux and Gigapixel / PhotoAI

I’m running linux (kernel 6.1.8), and wine (wine-8.0). I’m running Sharpen AI (4.1.0) and Denoise AI (3.7.0) without any issues. Gigapixel AI (6.3.3) is installing, but it doesn’t seem to launch. The PhotoAI (1.1.9) installer doesn’t succeed (installer exception log is here: photoai wine installer bug · GitHub )

I should add that in winecfg, I’ve set the OS to Windows 7, and have set concrt140 (native, builtin). Without that Denoise / Sharpen didn’t work.

Is there some way to get Gigapixel working on Linux? Also, does PhotoAI need some additional workaround to work on Linux? I tried settings winecfg to Windows 10 to get the installer to install, but it gave that error.

Please raise a support request at the main website to see if they have any suggestions as it is an unsupported platform.

Cool… will do. Posted in the forums in case somebody else had come across it. Will raise a ticket today.

On another note, running gigapixel from the terminal after successful installation is giving me the following output in the console: gigapizel · GitHub

Seems runtime and dll related issues.

Please ignore the last post. There was something wrong with my wine prefix. I created a new one with windows 10 set as the OS and concrt140 set to native. I’ve then installed DeNoise, Sharpen AI, and Gigapixel AI. The first two run fine. Gigapixel gives this when it is run:

Right… it appears trying to install PhotoAI fails (with the errors in the first post), and completely messes us the dlls so DeNoise and Sharpen don’t run anymore. Using a new wine prefix from scratch, installing DeNoise, Sharpen, and Gigapixel results in the first two running, and the third failing.

I raised a support ticket. They closed it saying Linux isn’t supported.

I know many people are using topaz software in Wine (myself included). I was wondering if anybody got gigapixel to run properly in Wine.

I have the same problem on Wine 8.0 and Wine 8.2, both set to Win10 at the moment. DeNoise and Sharpen seem to work perfectly (as far as I can tell), but PhotoAI and Gigapixel fail with errors like “0084:fixme:hid:handle_IRP_MN_QUERY_ID Unhandled type 000000052”.

I have only tested them in demo mode, but will buy them if I can get them to work reliably.

I can confirm it’s the same for Win11 under Wine. Denoise 3.7.1 fails to start, 3.7.0 runs though. Gigapixel 5.8.0 works in Wine 8.2 with Windows 11 set, btw.
