Linkage between Lightroom and Photo ai not working correctly

Windows 11. When working in Photo ai from the link from inside Lightroom Photo ai frequently jumps back into Lightroom. This happens with no known triggering event. The only way to continue is to link out again from the partially edited photo. The original photo is CR2. I am working on a group of 500+ photos this week and this abnormality is almost doubling the edit time.
Steps to reproduce issue:

1. Step 1 - work in Lightroom Classic on a CR2 photo.
2. Step 2 - link out to Photo ai
3. Step 3 - work in photo ai
4. without any known trigger Photo ai jumps back to Lightroom.
