Lightened blocks showing up when using sharpen tool on dark subject

Only occurs when using “Standard” (AI or manual) or “Strong” settings.

Steps to reproduce issue:

  1. Export RAW (Nikon .NEF) file from Lightroom with “Edit In: Topaz Photo AI”.
  2. If Sharpen is run by AI and result uses Standard or Strong, image often appears as shown in downloaded .jpg screenshot.

Lens Blur or Motion Blur rarely if ever produce the blocking.

  1. If Sharpen is run manually, result is the same using the same settings.
  2. This occurs whether I’ve edited in Lightroom first or not (prior to “Edit in…”).

This happened with the previous version too and I reported it, with no response. I purchased the update hoping it would have been resolved.

i am running current version of LrC.

Thanks,

Steve

Hi John

All requested items have been placed in your Dropbox.

I have done some more investigating at my end. I did discover that specifying either my GPU (Intel Iris XE) or Auto results in the block effect. Specifying CPU results in a normal image (no blocking). Am looking into new drivers currently.

Thanks,

Steve

Also, new driver installed, no improvement.
