Lens corrections

If I open an image in lightroom classic and then go file, plug in extras, process with photo AI then do my work and export back to lightroom the image doesn’t match the original raw with regards to lens corrections. I do not understand why? Even if I tick the lens correction it still doesn’t match the original raw with applied corrections in lightroom!

Topaz Photo AI [v1.x.x] on [Windows/Mac]

Hi. Lensfun is an open source and free lens correction software used by Topaz Photo AI, whereas Adobe use their own system for lens correction.

Both methods interpolate the the Lens information slightly differently, hence the inconsistencies.

Basically, it’s up to the user which one they prefer to use, if you prefer Lightroom’s method then disable the Topaz Photo AI lens correction within preferences under the edit menu.

On the other hand, if you prefer the Lensfun method then disable Lightroom’s lens correction within the Develop module.

Having said all that, if you want true lens correction, then you should use the camera or lens manufacturer’s own software either supplied with or downloaded from their website, because only they know the true Camera, Lens Correction and RAW recipes.

Adobe, Lensfun, DXO and anyone else are purely guessing, a best guess I agree, nevertheless still a guess

Hope this helps
