[KNOWN ISSUE] Update to Video AI 7.0.1 crash on download

Every time I try to download version 7.0.1 the program crashes - I have rebooted to no avail.

I searched and there is not a current (version 7) Crash on download report

Same here. Download gets to 100% then crashes.

Use these steps to do a clean install of version 7.0.1 as updating from in the app is currently seeing some issues on Mac systems.

  1. Uninstall Topaz Video AI by dragging and dropping the app into the trash bin
  2. Delete the plist files & empty the trash bin

  3. Reboot your Mac
  4. Reinstall

I had the same issue on my MacBook Pro - I tried a couple more times on it and it installed - I hovered over the download button as it would get to 100% then crash - I quickly pressed the install button and had success. I went back to my desktop which is the start of this thread and tried a couple more times doing the same thing and had success - this was before seeing Kyle’s (from Topaz Labs) post.

kyle.topazlabs, your suggestion does not provide a solution. As you instructed (above) I uninstalled this wretched application; deleted the plist files, emptied the bin and restarted the computer. Then, when setting out to re-download VAI I was presented with your administrative pantomime of having to verify my identity via that pillar of US voracious enterprise, Google.

The issue is less to do with your customer’s computers than the shoddy application iterations that keep being released by your company. Why Topaz Labs have not been able to historically produce a stable AI application for Macs is the real question. Shame on you.

Just installed Video AI 7 and had the same problem Crash, crash, crash… Followed the above instructions, and guess what - crash, crash… After 3 iterations, it finally downloaded and installed the update. Mac Studio M4 Pro. I have absolutely no confidence it will continue to run without crashing. Sad state of affairs…

TVAI 7.0.0 loads and runs fine, but attempting to run the update will cause the app to crash immediately. Running on a new Mac Studio M4 Max with 128GB. O/S is macOS Sequoia v15.5.

Followed the steps for a clean install. Downloaded the update to 100%, selected Install and Topaz Video AI crashed, as it has done at every previous attempt to update. This is such a fundamental failure it’s surely beyond embarrassing for Topaz? Please sort it out asap.
Topaz Video AI 7.0.0
Mac Studio M2 Ultra
macOS Sequioa 15.5

After seeing how this has/hasn’t worked, I’ll wait until a new fix for this has been released.

Thank you all for your notes and feedback.

The team is working on resolving the in-app updater.

For now, use this direct link below to install a clean copy of Video AI 7.0.1 and that should work to get you all back in the app.
