iPhone 16 & iPhone 17 input videos may fail to process and show an error in the app.
This is related to a recent change in how audio is encoded in these files, which is not yet fully supported.
Workarounds
You can use one of the options below:
Option 1: Convert the video with HandBrake
- Drag and drop your video into HandBrake
- Go to the Dimensions tab and set Resolution Limit to None
- Go to the Video tab and set Framerate (FPS) to Same as source
- Click Start to convert
- Import the converted file into Video AI and process as usual
This keeps the original resolution and frame rate while converting the audio to a supported format.
Option 2: Export without audio and re-attach later
- Set Audio Mode to None and export the clip
- Re-attach the original audio in an editor such as DaVinci Resolve or Adobe Premiere Pro
Option 3: Restart export (limited cases)
In some cases, if Audio Mode is set to Copy and the export fails immediately, clicking Restart Process may allow the export to complete when using MOV output.
This does not reliably work when exporting to MP4.
Status
The team is working on improving support for these newer iPhone formats. This post will be updated when native support is available.
