[KNOWN ISSUE] 1.3.0 Mac and AMD GPU systems unable to use Starlight mini

Hey there I’m having issues yet again with starlight mini and all local rendering in the starlight model. Everything is grayed out except for the clout renders which i am not looking to use. i was told that since i was such an early user of topaz and even updated license to get newer features, I’d always have access to to these models, but they have never really worked properly and now after this update they’re not working at all. protius natural also has a huge fail rate. it seems like all the new updated fatures added never work reliably… if at all. just hoping to get what was promised eventually. am i doing something wrong or something here? Ive got 64GB of ram on a pro max M1 chip mac. the early versions of this option were the only ones to seem to work until the previous version to this one which finally got it working again…. now we don’t even have the option, what gives?

1.3.0 is broken for mac, had to revert to 1.2.1, Starlight mini runs locally

There is a known issue that the team is working on fixing at this time that effects Mac users in 1.3.0. While the work on this, rolling back to 1.2.1 is the recommended choice to continue to use the model for processing.

Copy that, thanks Kyle. Can I ask, and I mean to do so respectfully, but are you guys committed to fulfilling these models with some consistency for mac users? It’s been over a year now and this trend seems to continue. And now with these new M5 macs out that are super powerful for this kind of work and only sip power compared to all the other systems running this software, I can foresee this being a very intriguing for many users. Unfortunately it seems like every new update breaks something for mac users. I still can’t seem to get Protius Natural to run reliably. Not at all on my maxed out M1 pro max ultra or whatever the best of the best M1 macbook pro was called, and sometimes it will work but with no consistency or rhyme or reason on my base M4 mac mini. It’s like all new things come in broken for mac and i’d bet over the coming years mac users are going to be the highest your biggest clientele if these chip trends continue. I just really hope that by year 2 now we can get some of these things resolved with some level of consistency. Forgive the rant, but i’m sure you guys want to hear some honest customer feedback.

all the best,

-Eric

Yes, the team is actively working to try to bring all the models they can to local processing and for all users on supported systems. Currently, the structure for Mac and AMD GPUs is very different than Nvidia and takes more work to get sorted out.

Version 1.3.1 has been released to resolve the Founder issue with not having access to the Starlight models.

Great thank you. Just started using it and seems to be running faster than usual and so far no bugs in the output which i was getting before with these blocky squares at points. Seems to be working better than ever
