Installing an older version

Hi, I have not used Topaz AI for about a month since I have been building a brand new Windows 11 machine and wanted to get it fully configured, stability tested and working with all my other applications before getting around to installing Topaz (which will be the last thing - probably in a week’s time).

I have looked at the newer releases but have decided that I would rather stick with the older version I was using or possibly the one just after it which were mainly bug fixes - one of the fixes being a problem that i had. I think this is the last of the 5.1 versions.

My question is can I install this older version or am I going to be forced to update to the 5.2 series? I can see that I can download the older version via the forum links here but just wondered if it is going to upgrade itself. Or to put it another way, how do I make sure I am installing version 5.1 on this new computer and that is does not update?

Thanks

It doesn’t update automatically, it just nags you. If you click on the “updates available” button, at the bottom of the update window there’s a snooze button that will let you turn off the alert for up to six months. The “updates available” button will still be there, but it won’t nag you and you can just ignore it.

I’ve gone back to 4.2.2 for “real work,” and am using the alphas and betas to play around with new stuff.

the new version crashes for me on the export as
every.single.time
and yes I have updated my drivers.

Thanks. I would use 4.2.2 myself except that Nyx had a critical update from 5.0 onwards that I absolutely needed. But of course there were new bugs (as always) with the new version and those new bugs that effected me were supposedly fixed with the last version of the 5.1 series. Of course there were probably new bugs with that one - hopefully they won’t effect me like most newly introduced bugs have! I dream of a time when Topaz simply spend time fixing all the bugs before moving forward but of course that is a fantasy, not the real world.

That’s what I have the betas for. If I really, really need something that isn’t available in 4x, I cross my fingers and hope a beta will handle it without too many hiccups.
