Similar issues were reported on v2.1.2 and v2.1.3. I didn’t see mention of a resolution.
After saving an image and then closing it, I usually, but not always, get the “Are you sure you want to close” question box. I have been unable to find any sequence of operations that reliably never generates that message. Apart from altering the image without saving it, I have been unable find any sequence of operations that always generates the message. This behavior appears random, except that it appears more often than not.
I have tried having multiple images open and saved, then close all or close one at a time. I usually get this behavior.
Simplest example sequence:
Open an image.
Apply desired transformations.
Save the image.
Close the image.
Usually observe the “Are you sure” question box. I never have to try this sequence more than 3 times to see this behavior.
I saw this behavior start several releases ago, then it disappeared for a while, then reappeared in some release shortly before the 3.0 release. (Sorry I can’t be more specific.) It’s pretty annoying.
Added later: I’m supposed to attach DxDiag.txt to this report, but I don’t see a way to attach the file.
I updated the driver, as shown in the DxDiag output below. The behavior regarding inappropriate “Are you sure you want to close” messages has not changed.
I found a solution, or at least a workaround. In my problem statement I did not specify precisely enough the steps I took. The solution is in a part of the sequence I did not mention.
After editing, I clicked Export, then Save, then Close Window, then ctrl-W to close the image. It seems that at least sometimes, PhotoAI re-analyzed the image after Close Window, so ctrl-W seemed to abandon a changed image – hence the warning. Possibly this is expected behavior, but it’s deep enough in the weeds that it might not be mentioned in tutorials.
Now, after Save, I use ctrl-W to close the image, then Close Window. There is no chance for PhotoAI to re-analyze the image, so no warning on closing the image.
I prefer closing the export window before closing the image, so that I am certain which image I am closing when multiple images are open. But after using the new sequence for a while, I’m satisfied.
