Hyperion 2.5 wont work after latest update

Hyperion 2.5 won’t work after latest update. Model downloads, and it sits forever. Tried log out restart machine same thing happens on both machines’ laptop and desktop. Same problem after update.

I have exactly the same thing—I left it overnight just to be sure.

Looking into this!

Same here. Using Hyperion 2.5 on a 1.5 minute 4k60 clip. Been running for over 24 hours, GPU cores running hard, vRAM maxed out, RAM at 90%, CPU doing its thing.

Even before the latest update when I last used Hyperion 2.5, it was exceptionally slow. Slower than Starlight. It doesn’t seem like it should take as long as it does for an SDR to HDR model. Would love to see some model improvements in 2.6!

Topaz Video 1.7.1 | Windows 11 Pro 26H2 (release candidate) | Nvidia Studio Drivers 616.92

EDIT: I realized I had Hyper-V running on the same workstation with an idle VM consuming 8GB system RAM. I shut that down but not much has changed and the system RAM used by Topaz hasn’t increased in a couple of hours. Probably wasn’t the issue, but that was 8GB out of my 64GB being consumed. Page file on my 9100 Pro was thrashing hard due to vRAM and system RAM exhaustion, which led me to realizing Hyper-V had a running VM.

EDIT 2: After 39 hours, the 1.5 minute 4K60 Hyperion 2.5 encode finished. So it’s not completely broken, it just takes absolutely forever, even with near the highest-end hardware consumers can buy. Kinda crazy.

That’s not the problem—the processing doesn’t start at all on my end

When is the fix for this issue scheduled to be implemented? I’m paying for the Studio version, and right now nothing is processing because I want to finish the work I’ve started.

We don’t have an exact date on when this will be fixed to share, for now I’d recommend rolling back to 1.6.1 or 1.7.0:

Topaz Video | 1.6.1 | - Win
Topaz Video |1.6.1 | - Mac

Topaz Video | 1.7.0 | Windows
Topaz Video | 1.7.0 | Mac

However, you were right—I only noticed today that the processing was completed after 18 hours (10 minutes of 1720p footage). So the app doesn’t just show a progress bar.

This is me trying Hyperion 2.5 locally, both as a ProRes and an EXR image sequence. I used a UHD MP4 as an input file. I’ve run this test multiple times with the same results. When I ran it on the cloud, it seems to have worked, but a much more realistic workflow would involve the local solution.

I’m on M2 Ultra (60 core) Metal 4. 128GB Ram.
