When exporting a video as image sequence, I ran into a disk space issue. VAI stopped processing, raising the alert that no space was left on disk… and immediately deleted everything it had already exported. Hours of work gone! This is absurd. Best option would be to pause processing and let the user free up space. Wouldn’t mind too much if processing stopped but nothing was deleted. Those are not temporary working files, they’re the final product.
I have the exact same problem. I do know that if you have a large QuickTime file (50-60GB) which is not finished properly that Windows does not like it and so it is practically impossible to delete. So I can understand deleting an incomplete QT file when the system runs out of space.
I started saving videos as a tiff sequence so if things went wrong I would be able to keep everything that had been done so far. One overnight job which took 6 hours on a 1hr 50min video ran out of space about 5 minutes before the end and then deleted all the TIFs which was incredibly annoying.
The team is working on improving the workflow for situations like this.
I am working though running out of space on Topaz video render, they have added a resume from checkpoint to allow you to delete files to make more space but when you get to the point there is nothing to delete it would be nice to be able to add an alternate location to send the file then a way to join the pieces. Also better messages and tools to do this would be really appreciated. On this last render I am trying deleting other partitions, moving the entire directory repartitioning my 4 TB SSD then putting the folder back taking care to keep the same drive letter, volume name and folder name crossing my fingers that that will work, but a lot of work to get the file done!
