Howdy Doody. I’m at present using Topaz Video AI 5.1.2 stand alone. Windows 11. Everything on my Laptop is up to date.
I haven’t updated to the current version 5.2.1 until the problem of the AI Processor keeping resetting to AUTO is fixed.
I’ve checked my settings in Preferencies and the only change I have made is to change the AI Processor to Intel® UHD Graphics which has always been the fastest setting for me.
I noticed the problem I’m going to describe a few days ago and have tried previous versions of the software but they too have the same problem.
As an exercise I opened a small video 320x240, 25fps in Topaz Video AI and selected Proteous Enhance MQ and selected 10 seconds in the Render In Out function box. The video took less than 30 seconds to process at 9.1fps.
No problems so far, but when I Exported the video it took over 6 minutes at 9.6fps.
Reiterate 9.6fps!!!
After uninstalling and reinstalling a few other versions of Video AI I found the same problem.
In a last ditch effort I decided to use the Mark In – Mark Out function to create a 10 second Timeline on the same part of the video using the same settings and it processed in about 30 seconds. 9.2fps and Exported in a similar time at 9.6fps which is the same frame rate as when it took over 6 minutes.
I’ve tried other videos and the same discrepancies applied to them when I selected the Render In Out function box but not when I used the Mark In – Mark Out function
I’ve included four screen captures to show graphically all of the above. I hope they make sense.
Note : The second picture shows the time discrepancy.
I know that this problem won’t affect experienced users but new users and people trialling the program may be put off.

Update:
I’ve just tried a larger video 1380x776 30fps, and these are the results.
Enhancement, Proteous, Enhance MQ
Render In/Out 2 seconds, takes 2 minutes to Process, and Export 33 minutes = 35 minutes total
Mark In/Out, 2 seconds, 2 minutes to Process, Export 2 minutes = 4 minutes total.
I’ve also noticed that there is little difference in time taken when I Export after using Render In/Out,
either 2 seconds and 30 seconds. Both take approximately the same time.
